17e Coupe d'Europe de Montgolfières - 21st Ladies World Cup

 Mainfonds, Angoulême, Royan, Jonzac - 3 au 7 août 2011

 The opportunity to register to take part in the Coupe d’Europe and the Coupe du Monde des Dames (Women’s World Cup) is now available. By the end of January around 60 pilots had expressed their interest in taking part in the competition atMainfonds in 2011. Nearly 40 have already formally registered their entries.

As a precursor event to the Coupe d’Europe, through the invitation of Andre Mongrand and organisers of the « Reve d’Icare » (the Dream of Icarus), the Foyer Rural de Mainfonds-Aubeville and the Compagnie Francaise de Montgolfieres are organising a single flight in Royan, on the evening of Wednesday 3rd August, 2011. The launch for this flight will take place fromthe foot of the Château de Didonne, in the parish of Cozes. Pilots wishing to take part in this exceptional flight will be informed of their entry’s acceptance once registered. A unique opportunity is being offereded here for a flight along the right bank of the Gironde if the sea breeze prevails as is often the case in summer. If a south-westerly wind is flowing, the flight would track towards the oyster beds of the Seudre and towards the Ile d’Oleron….pilots taking part in the Reve d’Icare will take away memories of an exceptional flight along the shores of the Charente Maritime.
Competition tasks will begin on Thursday evening at La Génétouze with the last flight scheduled for Sunday evening, 7 August, 2011 at Mainfonds as part of the closing activities of this great aerial sport event.
The role of Competition Director will be undertaken in 2011 by Jacques Bernardin and by Olivier Albert who has already been working alongside Rose-Anne Achard as we welcome a younger element into the organising team which has been running the Coupe d’Europe now for over 20 years.
